Welcome back message from Mrs Duynstee
Dear parents and carers,
Welcome back to the academic year 2020-21. I hope that you have all had a good summer and managed to have some family time despite continued restrictions.
Despite a little bumpy start to Thursday, the rest of the week has gone very well and after a few changes, start and end times have gone without issue. A huge thank you to all of our families for supporting social distancing. Pupils have settled well into their classes and are already keenly completing work. Lunch and playtimes are running smoothly, and the children are taking hand hygiene very seriously.
Can I ask that wherever possible, if you need to talk to staff in classes or the office, you email or call into Admin using the contact details above; or alternatively, direct message teaching staff via Dojo where staff will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible. Please be reminded that:
- Bags are not permitted – only coats, sandwich boxes, water bottles and pencil cases
- PE kits can be worn on the children’s PE day (please ensure that the children can keep warm)
- Snacks are permitted at breaktime (no wrappers please and healthy snacks only)
- The expectation for the DfE is that all pupils will return to school; if you have anxieties over the return for your child, please speak to the class teachers who will be happy to help.
PHE and NHS Test and Trace (Sept 3rd) recommend to schools that we ask for pupils to be tested if: They develop one or more of the main coronavirus symptoms – high temperature; a new, continuous cough; the loss or change of their sense of taste or smell. Only the pupil needs to be tested, there is no need for the household to be tested unless they are symptomatic or instructed to do so by the NHS/ their GP. This is to ensure that the NHS can prioritise testing capacity for those actually with symptoms. Tests can be booked online or over the telephone through 119. It is recommended that pupils stay away from school until any case within the family has come back negative, whereby they can then return to school. Any positive results – follow NHS guidance (currently 10 days for actual COVID case and 14 days for other members of the household.)
Thank you again for your ongoing support.
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs P. Duynstee, Headteacher
